Soak the idli rice and urad dal separately in water for 4-5 hours.
Drain the water from the soaked rice and dal and grind them separately in a blender.
Add the fenugreek seeds to the ground urad dal and blend it again.
Mix the ground rice and dal together and add salt to taste.
Allow the batter to ferment for 8-10 hours.
Grease the idli moulds with oil and pour the batter into them.
Place the moulds in a steamer and steam for 10-15 minutes.
Serve the steamed idlis hot with chutney or sambar.
