Dry grind the cashews or almonds using a food processor until they turn into fine powder.
Stir sugar with water in a pan over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves.
Add the ground nuts and cardamom powder to the sugar syrup. Stir well.
Cook this mixture on a low flame, continuously stirring until it starts to leave the sides of the pot and forms a dough.
Grease a plate or a tray with ghee. Spread the dough on the tray and let it cool.
Once cool, cut the dough into diamond shapes. Serve these katlis at room temperature.
