Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add the cumin seeds and fry for a few seconds.
Add the chopped onions and fry until golden brown.

Fry for a few minutes until the spices are fragrant.
Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked.
Add salt to taste and stir to combine.
Serve hot with chapatis or rice.
