Want to enjoy the summer heat with the added benefit of losing weight? Boost your metabolism and shed those extra kgs with these delicious and easy-to-make homemade drinks. Here’s a list of the top 15 drinks to lose weight while savouring the flavours of summer.

  1. Lemon Water: Adding lemon to your water can improve your digestion, and boost your metabolism assisting in weight reduction while giving you the much-needed energy to engage in weight-loss activities and stay healthy.
  1. Cucumber Water: Cucumber is low in fat and calories, and their high water and fibre level help to burn fat.
  1. Coconut Water: Coconut water has an extremely low-fat content and you can drink quite a bit without worrying about weight gain. Since it’s a little “richer” than water, it keeps you feeling fuller for longer and better satiated.
  1. Aloe Vera Juice: The laxative properties of aloe vera ensure thorough digestion and reduce water retention. Aloe vera can help with both metabolic processes. The B vitamins and enzymes in aloe vera help accelerate fat burn.
  1. Watermelon Juice: This fruit is mainly water and low in calories which prevents cravings between meals. This also induces reduced portion sizes for your other meals, which is great for weight loss.
  1. Grapefruit Juice: The fibre content of grapefruit promotes fullness and reduces calorie intake. In addition, its water content promotes weight loss.
  2. Beetroot Juice:  Consuming beetroot juice daily helps detoxify the body, in turn helping better manage body weight, BMI and body fat percentage. It also improves exercise tolerance.
  1. Carrot Juice: Carrots are bright orange in colour due to the antioxidant called beta-carotene, which the body readily converts to vitamin A. Vitamin A aids weight loss. It assists in reducing belly fat, particularly visceral fat and shields you from other obesity-related health problems.
  1. Pineapple Juice: It helps break down protein into amino acids and helps the body gain energy from fat. It helps increase your metabolic rate, an essential component of weight loss. Pineapple is also 86% water, so it replenishes our bodies’ need for water.
  1. Apple Cider Vinegar: Besides lowering appetite, apple cider vinegar also slows the rate at which food leaves your stomach. This helps people consume fewer calories by encouraging satiety and ultimately losing weight.
  1. Buttermilk: This low-calorie drink can be the ruling food for weight loss. Buttermilk decreases adipogenesis,  the process by which fat-laden cells develop and get deposited in various regions of the body.
  1. Green Tea: Green tea is now arguably the healthiest tea variety. With its soothing, earthy taste, green tea is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, which offer many potential health benefits, including weight loss.
  1.  Black Coffee: It contains chlorogenic acid, which helps to slow down glucose fat cell production in your body. Since black coffee is rich in caffeine, it helps in the stimulation of metabolic activity and increases your energy level, thereby suppressing hunger.
  1.  Black Tea:  Black tea is considered a weight-loss beverage because it contains the highest concentration of caffeine among all the tea categories. Caffeine boosts energy and increases metabolic rate thereby boosting weight loss.
  1. ABC: The detox beverage ABC (Apple Beetroot Carrot) has a unique flavour. This drink’s three components work together to make it low in calories, and high in fibre, while also boosting the gut’s health. In addition, including this drink with a weight loss diet plan assists in reducing weight.
