6 High Protein Rich Vegetarian Foods

Protein is considered to be the building block of the human body. However, the common misconception is that protein is just found in meats and eggs, but plant based protein is equally effective as its non-vegetarian options.

Chickpeas (Channa)

They’re high in protein, fibre, and low in calories. So either boil and toss them into salads, or puree into a yummy hummus.

Kidney Beans (Rajma)

Apart from being an all time favourite dish of the Indian household, kidney beans are rich in protein, carbohydrates and fibre. 100 grams of rajma contains 22.9 grams of protein.

Milk

Milk is rich in calcium and ensures good bone health, strong teeth, a healthy immune system, and glowing skin. Also, 1 glass of milk contains 8 grams of protein.

Cottage Cheese (Paneer)

High in casein, paneer also offers you a good amount of calcium, fats and protein. Each 100 grams serving of paneer consists of 18.3 grams of protein.

Lentils (Dal)

Lentils are an easy and inexpensive way of amping up one’s protein, fiber, and essential minerals intake. Also, to keep you full, a small bowl (150g) of dal contains 9 grams of protein.

Green Peas (Matar)

A winter staple, green peas are a rather versatile vegetable that pairs well with soup and curries. It is high in protein and 1 cup of green peas provides 7 grams of protein.

Mixed Seeds

Seeds add crunch and quite a bit of protein to your meals. 1/4th cup (32 g) of mixed seeds contains a whopping 6 grams of protein.
