High-fat Foods or Fried Foods

High-fat foods take longer to digest and thus increases the chances of heartburn significantly. If food stays in your stomach for longer and digests slowly.

Spicy Foods

It may cause immediate adverse effects, irritate the stomach and cause heartburn if consumed in excess.

Alcohol

Alcohol can increase the amount of acid produced by the stomach. It can also increase the sensitivity of the tissues to acid, resulting in heartburn.

Acidic Foods

Consuming foods with a low pH on an empty stomach might trigger heartburn. These foods are acidic, like tomatoes, citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits and lemons.

Caffeinated and Carbonated Beverages

Liquids like soda, coffee, and tea contain caffeine. It increases acid production in the stomach, leading to acid reflux.
