Effective Foods to Manage High Blood Pressure

By Sucharita Sen

Small lifestyle changes can have a big impact on your blood pressure. Instead of making a significant lifestyle change, here are some simple foods that can help you return to normal blood pressure levels.

Dark Chocolate

A study on dark chocolate found that eating one to two squares per day can help lower the risk of heart disease by lowering blood pressure and inflammation.

Buchu

Buchu (Agathosma betulina) is a native South African plant. Helps your body eliminate excess water and salt through urine. As a result, blood volume and artery pressure both fall.

Garlic

According to one study, garlic can help hypertensive people lower their blood pressure. It works best when combined with hypertension. It is recommended to consume 1 to 2 cloves of garlic per day.

Basil

Basil is used to treat a variety of cardiovascular diseases, including high blood pressure. In addition, it also contains a high concentration of eugenols, a plant compound that lowers blood pressure.

Parsley

Another well-known diuretic is parsley. It contains nitrates, which help dilate blood vessels, improve blood flow, and lower blood pressure.

Ginger

Ginger appears to have blood pressure-lowering properties. It contains compounds that inhibit angiotensin-converting enzymes (ACE), thereby lowering blood vessel pressure.

Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids perform a number of functions in the body, including blood vessel health maintenance. Oily fish such as mackerel, salmon, and sardines are excellent sources.
